I came to New Zealand with a mission to go kina diving. I posted on TikTok asking if anyone could take me, tried organising it multiple times… and every single plan fell through. Until my very last day in New Zealand. That’s when I met Tee and Riley — two complete strangers who became part of one of the most special days of my entire trip. We went out on a Skipperi boat, they showed me the full kina diving process, how to catch them, prepare them, and of course… eat them straight from the ocean. I caught my very first kina — as someone who loves eating kina, this experience meant everything to me. None of this would have been possible without Skipperi the amazing boat company, and without Tee and Riley giving up their time, energy, and kindness to make this happen. They were so lovely that we didn’t just dive together — we ended up hanging out afterwards and even going to dinner together. This day felt meant to be. Forever thankful.
